Grounded in the Job Demands–Resources (JD–R) model, this study examines innovative culture as an antecedent of employee engagement (EE), with workplace digitalization as a mediator and group diversity as a moderator of the digitalization–EE relationship. Using structural equation modelling on 256 online survey responses from management-level executives in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the results show that innovative culture enhances EE both directly and indirectly through workplace digitalization. In addition, group diversity strengthens the relationship between workplace digitalization and EE. These findings suggest that organizations can foster higher EE in diversity-oriented digital environments by cultivating an innovative culture that supports employees’ perceptions and acceptance of digitalization. The study contributes to interdisciplinary research by highlighting how innovative culture, digitalization, and group diversity jointly shape employee engagement.
